Narrative:
I was picking up a flight at trenton that was ferrying to farmingdale, ny. The flight had arrived late and the captain had already gotten the clearance. A few mi from robbinsville, I asked what our clearance was after that. He said direct. I questioned this and he said direct farmingdale. I tuned in deer park and began proceeding direct. A few mins later mcguire approach asked if we were established on V276. The captain replied negative and we were given a heading to intercept. At ziggy intersection we were handed off to ny approach. I remember watching the captain dial the frequency on the bottom of the radio as I pushed the button to listen to the ATIS which was set in my radio. We were on our route direct jfk, direct frg and were about 15 mi from frg when I said I had the airport if he wanted to call it. At this point, I looked over and saw mcguire's frequency in the radio and ny still on the bottom. The captain then called ny approach who said they'd been trying to call us for 60 mi. We were then cleared for the visual approach.
