Narrative:
I was working local control north and south at deer valley tower. I cleared small aircraft X for a touch and go on runway 7L. When small aircraft X was about 500-1000 ft from the runway end, small transport Y called tower and said where is this guy on final landing. I immediately told small aircraft X to make sure he was lined up for the runway. Small aircraft X immediately side stepped to the right and landed on the runway, he was first lined up for taxiway alpha while small aircraft Y was on taxiway alpha performing his runup. Once again it is impossible to tell from the tower if the airplanes are lined up for the runway. Thank god small aircraft Y spoke up because there is no displaced threshold on 7L and most planes land right on the numbers. In this case it could have been a terrible accident. My suggestion is a new control tower that is higher or relocated or extending the runway and taxiway and making a displaced threshold so if they do land on the taxiway it will be further down to avoid any collision with the planes running up on the taxiway.

Title: SMA ON TAXIWAY ADVISES TWR THAT A LNDG SMA IS LINED UP FOR TAXIWAY INSTEAD OF RWY. TWR NOTIFIES LNDG ACFT.
Narrative: I WAS WORKING LCL CTL N AND S AT DEER VALLEY TWR. I CLRED SMA X FOR A TOUCH AND GO ON RWY 7L. WHEN SMA X WAS ABOUT 500-1000 FT FROM THE RWY END, SMT Y CALLED TWR AND SAID WHERE IS THIS GUY ON FINAL LNDG. I IMMEDIATELY TOLD SMA X TO MAKE SURE HE WAS LINED UP FOR THE RWY. SMA X IMMEDIATELY SIDE STEPPED TO THE R AND LANDED ON THE RWY, HE WAS FIRST LINED UP FOR TAXIWAY ALPHA WHILE SMA Y WAS ON TAXIWAY ALPHA PERFORMING HIS RUNUP. ONCE AGAIN IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL FROM THE TWR IF THE AIRPLANES ARE LINED UP FOR THE RWY. THANK GOD SMA Y SPOKE UP BECAUSE THERE IS NO DISPLACED THRESHOLD ON 7L AND MOST PLANES LAND RIGHT ON THE NUMBERS. IN THIS CASE IT COULD HAVE BEEN A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT. MY SUGGESTION IS A NEW CTL TWR THAT IS HIGHER OR RELOCATED OR EXTENDING THE RWY AND TAXIWAY AND MAKING A DISPLACED THRESHOLD SO IF THEY DO LAND ON THE TAXIWAY IT WILL BE FURTHER DOWN TO AVOID ANY COLLISION WITH THE PLANES RUNNING UP ON THE TAXIWAY.
