Narrative:
Bottom line: departed gate and took off without enough fuel for trip. Action: returned to gate and refueled (in air for about 3 mins). On preflight checklist, I called for fuel and we both glanced at gauges. We needed 2600 pounds, but only had about 2100. Gauges are hard to read, and we assumed we had been fueled.
