Narrative:
Taxiing to gate after flight pit-iad, pulling into gate the rampers were in front of us and on the right wing (2 rampers). The wing ramper was indicating approximately 2 ft clearance and my first officer was watching as well, I was watching the ramper in front. The wing ramper rapidly moved his hands to the stop position, my first officer said stop and I stopped. The ramper in front crossed his arms all at the same time. The ramper in front was expressing anger so I figured that we had hit. All was broken was the strobe light on each plane. It was replaced and ready to fly in 20 mins. The problem is that we have too little ramp space for too many airplanes. They want us to get so close to each other, that it is just bound to happen after the rampers are tired and the pilots are tired and we all try to push our limits.

Narrative: TAXIING TO GATE AFTER FLT PIT-IAD, PULLING INTO GATE THE RAMPERS WERE IN FRONT OF US AND ON THE R WING (2 RAMPERS). THE WING RAMPER WAS INDICATING APPROX 2 FT CLRNC AND MY FO WAS WATCHING AS WELL, I WAS WATCHING THE RAMPER IN FRONT. THE WING RAMPER RAPIDLY MOVED HIS HANDS TO THE STOP POS, MY FO SAID STOP AND I STOPPED. THEY WANT US TO GET SO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER, THAT IT IS JUST BOUND TO HAPPEN AFTER THE RAMPERS ARE TIRED AND THE PLTS ARE TIRED AND WE ALL TRY TO PUSH OUR LIMITS.
