Narrative:
As we started out the gopher VOR 130 degree radial showing 300 ft below us. Approach control said the target at 12 O'clock at 9500 ft (or 500 ft below us). We did not have visual contact with the aircraft. TCASII gave us a RA to 'climb'. We pulled up to 11000 ft and immediately reported our climb to approach control. The lead flight attendant shortly thereafter reported that she saw a light plane go under us. We returned to 10000 ft after the RA with no further complications. Supplemental information from acn 224371. At 10000 ft, we were on top of a scattered to broken layer of clouds. At no time did I have visual reference with the traffic.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR MLG CLBED IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII ALERT. THERE WAS SMA TFC NOT SEEN BY THE FLC.
Narrative: AS WE STARTED OUT THE GOPHER VOR 130 DEG RADIAL SHOWING 300 FT BELOW US. APCH CTL SAID THE TARGET AT 12 O'CLOCK AT 9500 FT (OR 500 FT BELOW US). WE DID NOT HAVE VISUAL CONTACT WITH THE ACFT. TCASII GAVE US A RA TO 'CLB'. WE PULLED UP TO 11000 FT AND IMMEDIATELY RPTED OUR CLB TO APCH CTL. THE LEAD FLT ATTENDANT SHORTLY THEREAFTER RPTED THAT SHE SAW A LIGHT PLANE GO UNDER US. WE RETURNED TO 10000 FT AFTER THE RA WITH NO FURTHER COMPLICATIONS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 224371. AT 10000 FT, WE WERE ON TOP OF A SCATTERED TO BROKEN LAYER OF CLOUDS. AT NO TIME DID I HAVE VISUAL REF WITH THE TFC.
