Narrative:
While inbound to dfw on arrival STAR, a TCASII TA sounded. I looked at TCASII display to see intruder amber signal at 12:30 and 4 NM ahead. I looked outside to locate target but could not see it due to undercast below. I continued to scan TCASII display and outside aircraft to locate intruder. Finally I received a TCASII RA with visual and aural commands to climb. I immediately climbed out of 11000 ft MSL to satisfy TCASII climb command of at least 1500 FPM. I leveled aircraft at 12000 ft MSL when clear of conflict signal was sounded by TCASII. My first officer notified ATC during the climb about our altitude deviation in response to TCASII. I then began a descent to the original altitude clearance of 11000 ft MSL. At no time did my crew visually detect the intruder traffic that caused the TCASII RA.

Title: AN ACR MLG CLBED IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII COMMAND.
Narrative: WHILE INBOUND TO DFW ON ARR STAR, A TCASII TA SOUNDED. I LOOKED AT TCASII DISPLAY TO SEE INTRUDER AMBER SIGNAL AT 12:30 AND 4 NM AHEAD. I LOOKED OUTSIDE TO LOCATE TARGET BUT COULD NOT SEE IT DUE TO UNDERCAST BELOW. I CONTINUED TO SCAN TCASII DISPLAY AND OUTSIDE ACFT TO LOCATE INTRUDER. FINALLY I RECEIVED A TCASII RA WITH VISUAL AND AURAL COMMANDS TO CLB. I IMMEDIATELY CLBED OUT OF 11000 FT MSL TO SATISFY TCASII CLB COMMAND OF AT LEAST 1500 FPM. I LEVELED ACFT AT 12000 FT MSL WHEN CLR OF CONFLICT SIGNAL WAS SOUNDED BY TCASII. MY FO NOTIFIED ATC DURING THE CLB ABOUT OUR ALTDEV IN RESPONSE TO TCASII. I THEN BEGAN A DSCNT TO THE ORIGINAL ALT CLRNC OF 11000 FT MSL. AT NO TIME DID MY CREW VISUALLY DETECT THE INTRUDER TFC THAT CAUSED THE TCASII RA.
