Narrative:
Unable to understand ATIS with respect to altimeter setting. When cleared to descend to 500 meters by moscow approach, 4 requests made for correct altimeter setting. On fourth try whole crew understood 29.81 which resulted in 1100 ft AGL level off. When switched to final controller, he requested altitude. When we responded 500 meters. He verified correct altimeter to be 98.1 -- we corrected with a climb, intercepted GS and completed approach.
