Narrative:
I am a line instructor and was conducting initial operating experience with a transitioning captain. While the 'student' was parking the aircraft, following lead in lines at a self park gate, the left wing tip scraped a catering truck, parked at an adjacent gate servicing a parked aircraft. The 'student' was in the left seat and I was occupying the right seat. The WX was good and the ramp area was dry.
