Narrative:

I had flown from mid-continent airport in wichita, ks, to hutchinson municipal airport in hutchinson, ks, to practice lndgs. The hutchinson tower advised me of conditions and cleared me to perform a touch-and-go on runway 31. The runway had patches of water and thin ice which were left from a winter storm that had been in the area. The time was PM20 and the temperature was 32 degrees. I had completed one touch-and- go and then repeated the exercise. After my second landing I prepared the airplane for takeoff and accelerated. As the airplane was gaining speed for takeoff, it hit a patch of water or ice and hydroplaned or slid off the runway to the left. The airplane left the runway at an ice covered taxiway intersection and continued into a snow covered grass area between runway 31 and another taxiway. I taxied the airplane to that taxiway and then to the terminal to examine the landing gear. At the time I left the runway the faring on the right main gear struck a runway light. The left gear's faring struck two reflectors. I observed the left faring had not been bent but the right faring had been. I taxied the airplane to FBO to have the right faring removed to determine if the strut had been damaged. It had not been damaged and was structurally sound. The airplane was flown back to wichita later that evening.

Title: A STUDENT PLT IN AN SMA RAN OFF THE RWY AFTER HITTING A PATCH OF ICE ON A TOUCH AND GO.

Narrative: I HAD FLOWN FROM MID-CONTINENT ARPT IN WICHITA, KS, TO HUTCHINSON MUNICIPAL ARPT IN HUTCHINSON, KS, TO PRACTICE LNDGS. THE HUTCHINSON TWR ADVISED ME OF CONDITIONS AND CLRED ME TO PERFORM A TOUCH-AND-GO ON RWY 31. THE RWY HAD PATCHES OF WATER AND THIN ICE WHICH WERE LEFT FROM A WINTER STORM THAT HAD BEEN IN THE AREA. THE TIME WAS PM20 AND THE TEMP WAS 32 DEGS. I HAD COMPLETED ONE TOUCH-AND- GO AND THEN REPEATED THE EXERCISE. AFTER MY SECOND LNDG I PREPARED THE AIRPLANE FOR TKOF AND ACCELERATED. AS THE AIRPLANE WAS GAINING SPD FOR TKOF, IT HIT A PATCH OF WATER OR ICE AND HYDROPLANED OR SLID OFF THE RWY TO THE L. THE AIRPLANE LEFT THE RWY AT AN ICE COVERED TAXIWAY INTXN AND CONTINUED INTO A SNOW COVERED GRASS AREA BTWN RWY 31 AND ANOTHER TAXIWAY. I TAXIED THE AIRPLANE TO THAT TAXIWAY AND THEN TO THE TERMINAL TO EXAMINE THE LNDG GEAR. AT THE TIME I LEFT THE RWY THE FARING ON THE R MAIN GEAR STRUCK A RWY LIGHT. THE L GEAR'S FARING STRUCK TWO REFLECTORS. I OBSERVED THE L FARING HAD NOT BEEN BENT BUT THE R FARING HAD BEEN. I TAXIED THE AIRPLANE TO FBO TO HAVE THE R FARING REMOVED TO DETERMINE IF THE STRUT HAD BEEN DAMAGED. IT HAD NOT BEEN DAMAGED AND WAS STRUCTURALLY SOUND. THE AIRPLANE WAS FLOWN BACK TO WICHITA LATER THAT EVENING.
