Narrative:
While level at 11000 ft on arrival into dfw, approach control called out traffic climbing out of 8000 ft to 10000 ft. Our TCASII picked up the climbing aircraft as a threat and issued an RA of 'climb.' our response to the RA was to momentarily climb from 11000 ft to 11700 ft. We immediately notified ATC. Our FAA approved operating manual states, 'when TCASII issues an RA the pilot must always maneuver the airplane per TCASII instructions even when in visual contact with a target.' I feel very uncomfortable deviating from an assigned altitude in a TCA!

Title: FLC OF ACR LGT ACFT TOOK EVASIVE ACTION IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII RA.
Narrative: WHILE LEVEL AT 11000 FT ON ARR INTO DFW, APCH CTL CALLED OUT TFC CLBING OUT OF 8000 FT TO 10000 FT. OUR TCASII PICKED UP THE CLBING ACFT AS A THREAT AND ISSUED AN RA OF 'CLB.' OUR RESPONSE TO THE RA WAS TO MOMENTARILY CLB FROM 11000 FT TO 11700 FT. WE IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED ATC. OUR FAA APPROVED OPERATING MANUAL STATES, 'WHEN TCASII ISSUES AN RA THE PLT MUST ALWAYS MANEUVER THE AIRPLANE PER TCASII INSTRUCTIONS EVEN WHEN IN VISUAL CONTACT WITH A TARGET.' I FEEL VERY UNCOMFORTABLE DEVIATING FROM AN ASSIGNED ALT IN A TCA!
