Narrative:
Flight departed orlando international runway 35. Our clearance was the mccoy 2 SID to 5000 ft. Tower cleared us for takeoff with a turn to 360 degrees at the MM. We took off, cleaned up the aircraft and were climbing through approximately 3000 ft at 210 KIAS when departure control directed an immediate turn to 070 degrees and our TCASII commanded a descent. An air carrier large transport departing from one of the parallel western runways (36L or 36R) was on a converging left to right course 1000 ft behind and 500 ft above us. The turn was initiated and the TCASII warning ceased almost immediately as our ascent rate had been decreased in response to the initial TCASII warning. The PIC had visual contact with the large transport throughout the incident. Our best guess is that the other aircraft was on or given an incorrect heading.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LGT HAS TCASII RA ON INITIAL CLB AS ATC GIVES IMMEDIATE HDG CHANGE.
Narrative: FLT DEPARTED ORLANDO INTL RWY 35. OUR CLRNC WAS THE MCCOY 2 SID TO 5000 FT. TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF WITH A TURN TO 360 DEGS AT THE MM. WE TOOK OFF, CLEANED UP THE ACFT AND WERE CLBING THROUGH APPROX 3000 FT AT 210 KIAS WHEN DEP CTL DIRECTED AN IMMEDIATE TURN TO 070 DEGS AND OUR TCASII COMMANDED A DSCNT. AN ACR LGT DEPARTING FROM ONE OF THE PARALLEL WESTERN RWYS (36L OR 36R) WAS ON A CONVERGING L TO R COURSE 1000 FT BEHIND AND 500 FT ABOVE US. THE TURN WAS INITIATED AND THE TCASII WARNING CEASED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AS OUR ASCENT RATE HAD BEEN DECREASED IN RESPONSE TO THE INITIAL TCASII WARNING. THE PIC HAD VISUAL CONTACT WITH THE LGT THROUGHOUT THE INCIDENT. OUR BEST GUESS IS THAT THE OTHER ACFT WAS ON OR GIVEN AN INCORRECT HDG.
