Narrative:
Landed on runway 28. Taxi instructions 'cross runway 23L and runway 23R, taxi to the ramp.' I turned left on taxiway south. Snow and blowing snow made it almost impossible to distinguish the taxiway from grass infield. I followed the taxiway lights to what appeared to be taxiway J. Turning right, I taxied off of the pavement. I secured the engines and advised controllers of the situation. No damage to the aircraft. The blowing snow made it impossible to distinguish paved from unpaved surfaces. There was a taxiway light on the right side of taxiway south missing. That gave the appearance of a crossing taxiway where there was none.
