Narrative:

Clearance to deviate off track 50 mi to east encountered turbulence and thunderstorms. Deviated up to 80 mi off track to avoid severe WX, when able to contact ny oceanic. Reported deviation and received clearance to proceed 'smelt' (north 31580 west 076599). High frequency too outdated to be responsive enough to give immediate help. Too much delay trying to coordinate with ZNY.
