Narrative:
Doing a CAT IIIA approach to runway 10L at pit I exceeded the crosswind limitations of the medium large transport which for CAT IIIA lndgs is 10 KTS. As we approached pit we were listening to ATIS and the winds were such that I asked the first officer to check if we were legal. I remember the winds to be reported as 07/16. The first officer just stated we were legal after looking at the charts. When we contacted the pit approach controller he stated winds to be 06/21. My reply was that this may 'change things' and we needed to look up the crosswind charts again. The first officer looked up the crosswind component again. He held the book up to me and had his finger pointing to crosswind component of 6 KTS. We continued the approach, landed, parked at the gate -- no problems at all. The trip was over so we all said goodbye, etc, and went our own ways. About 10 mins later the first officer ran me down saying we made a mistake. He was using the headwind charts instead of crosswind tables. My headwind, crosswind, and tailwind tables are now blown up and clearly marked!
