Narrative:
Taxiing in to gate at phx. Just before turning into the gate I observed 2 or 3 provisioning trucks near the area of gate. They started to move and appeared to be clear of the area. I continued to taxi into the gate and directed my attention to the marshaller. I did not notice that one of the provisioning trucks had not moved to clear the area. Approximately 3 ft from the stopping point, I felt a bump and stopped the aircraft even though the marshaller was motioning me forward. I looked around and looked right and then left and I saw the provisioning truck which I had hit with the left wing, wing slat #1. The truck then moved and I taxied to the gate. No injuries of any kind were noted. Damage to the #1 slat. The provisioning truck should not have been in the clear zone and I should have seen it and the 2 marshallers should have seen it. Solution: strict adherence to clear zone lines. Awareness on everyone's part of movement in clear zones.
