Narrative:

We deviated from our assigned altitude of 12000 ft because of a TCASII RA. ZJX cleared a flight of 2 to descend to 13000 ft. However, both aircraft descended through 13000 at a rapid rate converging on our track and altitude. Our TCASII directed a descent which we immediately complied with. We stopped our descent when clear of conflict at 10800 ft. ZJX asked us to stay at 11000 ft. ZJX was advised as to the reason for the descent. We missed the aircraft by 500 ft and approximately 1/2 mi. Deviation from our altitude was absolutely necessary in order to avoid a possible midair.
