Narrative:
Returning to 1200 plus ft grass private landing strip after a local flight, a normal approach and landing was executed. After touchdown, full brakes were applied with nil braking action. Aircraft slid past end of runway and was damaged. Post- incident examination of landing strip revealed recent rainfall which evidently, with ht of grass, led to hydroplaning. Incident could have been prevented by prior knowledge of runway condition which was not obvious from pattern ht or prior to touchdown. Had runway condition been obvious landing would not have been attempted. Once on runway incident could possibly have been avoided by releasing brakes (if rolling resistance would have been greater than sliding resistance) or by an intentional ground loop (if sufficient turning forces could have been generated). A go around was not a safe option as there were obstacles including an inhabited structure at the far end of landing strip.

Title: PLT ERROR ADMITTED IN LNDG PROC TOUCHDOWN DYNAMICS AND LNDG OVERSHOT RESULTING IN RWY EXCURSION.
Narrative: RETURNING TO 1200 PLUS FT GRASS PRIVATE LNDG STRIP AFTER A LCL FLT, A NORMAL APCH AND LNDG WAS EXECUTED. AFTER TOUCHDOWN, FULL BRAKES WERE APPLIED WITH NIL BRAKING ACTION. ACFT SLID PAST END OF RWY AND WAS DAMAGED. POST- INCIDENT EXAMINATION OF LNDG STRIP REVEALED RECENT RAINFALL WHICH EVIDENTLY, WITH HT OF GRASS, LED TO HYDROPLANING. INCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BY PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF RWY CONDITION WHICH WAS NOT OBVIOUS FROM PATTERN HT OR PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN. HAD RWY CONDITION BEEN OBVIOUS LNDG WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTED. ONCE ON RWY INCIDENT COULD POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY RELEASING BRAKES (IF ROLLING RESISTANCE WOULD HAVE BEEN GREATER THAN SLIDING RESISTANCE) OR BY AN INTENTIONAL GND LOOP (IF SUFFICIENT TURNING FORCES COULD HAVE BEEN GENERATED). A GAR WAS NOT A SAFE OPTION AS THERE WERE OBSTACLES INCLUDING AN INHABITED STRUCTURE AT THE FAR END OF LNDG STRIP.
