Narrative:
In sum: an air carrier large transport crew hit some turbulence trying to fly between 2 thunderstorm cells. One of the flight attendants was injured, a bumped head. The passenger were strapped in and there were no passenger injuries. The reporting captain states that he was unable to get a higher altitude from ARTCC which would have cleared all of the WX. The pilot had no information from his company, the WX bureau, or his radar that would indicate that there would be heavy turbulence ahead. The ARTCC controller was busy with other traffic and could not process this aircraft immediately. The reporter stated that there was considerable frequency congestion. He also believes that ATC quality has gone down since the strike 10 yrs ago.

Title: AN ACR LGT GOT INTO SOME SEVERE TURB. A FLT ATTENDANT WAS INJURED.
Narrative: IN SUM: AN ACR LGT CREW HIT SOME TURB TRYING TO FLY BTWN 2 TSTM CELLS. ONE OF THE FLT ATTENDANTS WAS INJURED, A BUMPED HEAD. THE PAX WERE STRAPPED IN AND THERE WERE NO PAX INJURIES. THE RPTING CAPT STATES THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO GET A HIGHER ALT FROM ARTCC WHICH WOULD HAVE CLRED ALL OF THE WX. THE PLT HAD NO INFO FROM HIS COMPANY, THE WX BUREAU, OR HIS RADAR THAT WOULD INDICATE THAT THERE WOULD BE HVY TURB AHEAD. THE ARTCC CTLR WAS BUSY WITH OTHER TFC AND COULD NOT PROCESS THIS ACFT IMMEDIATELY. THE RPTR STATED THAT THERE WAS CONSIDERABLE FREQ CONGESTION. HE ALSO BELIEVES THAT ATC QUALITY HAS GONE DOWN SINCE THE STRIKE 10 YRS AGO.
