Narrative:
Level at 9000 ft, TCASII issued a TA for traffic 12 O'clock, 300 ft below our altitude. Almost immediately, received an RA. Initiated immediate climb. First officer spotted aircraft as we began climb. Notified ATC, who then issued TA. RA changed to 'monitor vertical speed' at 9400 ft, leveled off. TCASII called clear of traffic. Descended back to 9000 ft. TCASII worked as advertised.

Narrative: LEVEL AT 9000 FT, TCASII ISSUED A TA FOR TFC 12 O'CLOCK, 300 FT BELOW OUR ALT. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, RECEIVED AN RA. INITIATED IMMEDIATE CLB. FO SPOTTED ACFT AS WE BEGAN CLB. NOTIFIED ATC, WHO THEN ISSUED TA. RA CHANGED TO 'MONITOR VERT SPD' AT 9400 FT, LEVELED OFF. TCASII CALLED CLR OF TFC. DSNDED BACK TO 9000 FT. TCASII WORKED AS ADVERTISED.
