Narrative:
Simulated IFR (localizer) approach. At MDA transitioned to visual. While crossing over approach lights, realized I was too low. Applied power too late, struck last light in sequence. No advice from safety pilot. Improper crew coordination. Pilot failed to properly judge environment and aircraft altitude.

Narrative: SIMULATED IFR (LOC) APCH. AT MDA TRANSITIONED TO VISUAL. WHILE XING OVER APCH LIGHTS, REALIZED I WAS TOO LOW. APPLIED PWR TOO LATE, STRUCK LAST LIGHT IN SEQUENCE. NO ADVICE FROM SAFETY PLT. IMPROPER CREW COORD. PLT FAILED TO PROPERLY JUDGE ENVIRONMENT AND ACFT ALT.
