Narrative:
Summer day, heavy aircraft. Cleared to FL350. Ok according to charts. Aircraft would not hold speed at cruise. Pushed power up to maximum climb EPR. Speed eased back up. Went to 330 for cruise. On hot summer days when temperature is above standard, engineering says the charts cannot be relied on. Company needs to note this on charts or work out a method to correct numbers for non standard temperatures. A common problem on the medium large transport aircraft.
