Narrative:
The first officer was flying the aircraft and we had just taken off from hou's runway 12R. We were passing 1500 ft AGL/MSL approximately 15- 16 degrees nose up, in a left turn to an assigned heading of 360 degrees on the hobby 8 SID. The SID specifies that the turn be completed within 3 DME, and we were in a 25-30 degree left bank. At that altitude, the TCASII issued a command to descend at a rate of approximately 2000 FPM. The first officer began a pushover to comply while continuing the turn. The 'red square/intruder' was directly on the nose indicating 100 ft above our altitude. As the nose of the aircraft was passing through the horizon, the TCASII issued the 'clear of conflict' advisory. As we began to resume the climb the tower advised us to switch to departure. We informed him that had just complied with a TCASII RA. He said nothing, and we switched to departure. The visibility was reported as 6 mi with haze, temperature 83 degrees, wind 150/5. The other aircraft was never seen, type is unknown.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC OF AN MLG ACR ACFT TOOK EVASIVE ACTION AND STOPPED THEIR INITIAL CLBING TURN IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII RA.
Narrative: THE FO WAS FLYING THE ACFT AND WE HAD JUST TAKEN OFF FROM HOU'S RWY 12R. WE WERE PASSING 1500 FT AGL/MSL APPROX 15- 16 DEGS NOSE UP, IN A L TURN TO AN ASSIGNED HDG OF 360 DEGS ON THE HOBBY 8 SID. THE SID SPECIFIES THAT THE TURN BE COMPLETED WITHIN 3 DME, AND WE WERE IN A 25-30 DEG L BANK. AT THAT ALT, THE TCASII ISSUED A COMMAND TO DSND AT A RATE OF APPROX 2000 FPM. THE FO BEGAN A PUSHOVER TO COMPLY WHILE CONTINUING THE TURN. THE 'RED SQUARE/INTRUDER' WAS DIRECTLY ON THE NOSE INDICATING 100 FT ABOVE OUR ALT. AS THE NOSE OF THE ACFT WAS PASSING THROUGH THE HORIZON, THE TCASII ISSUED THE 'CLR OF CONFLICT' ADVISORY. AS WE BEGAN TO RESUME THE CLB THE TWR ADVISED US TO SWITCH TO DEP. WE INFORMED HIM THAT HAD JUST COMPLIED WITH A TCASII RA. HE SAID NOTHING, AND WE SWITCHED TO DEP. THE VISIBILITY WAS RPTED AS 6 MI WITH HAZE, TEMP 83 DEGS, WIND 150/5. THE OTHER ACFT WAS NEVER SEEN, TYPE IS UNKNOWN.
