Narrative:
Ground control cleared our aircraft to reposition from gate to the GA ramp parking area to hold until our departure clearance time of XA55Z. When pulling into the parking area, the right wingtip made contact with a ramp lamp pole. I did notice a bump, but thought it was just a ridge in the concrete. The first officer then advised me that we had hit a lamp post, which was approximately 5 ft inside of a blast wall. The post fell on a tv monitor post nearby and bent that pole. The 8 ft high block blast wall is gray in color as are the 4 lamp posts inside that wall (none of which are marked as potential hazards), thus making it difficult to see the posts and to judge depth perception. We returned to the gate, inspected the damage to the aircraft, which consisted of a broken wingtip lens cover, a broken aft right navigation bulb and broken strobe light. The taxi speed of the aircraft was very slow at the time of contact, therefore, no structural damage occurred nor bodily injury. I then called maintenance control and dispatch and advised them of the situation.

Title: CAPT OF AN MLG ACR ACFT STRUCK A LIGHT POLE WITH THE R WINGTIP DURING TAXI IN RAMP AREA.
Narrative: GND CTL CLRED OUR ACFT TO REPOSITION FROM GATE TO THE GA RAMP PARKING AREA TO HOLD UNTIL OUR DEP CLRNC TIME OF XA55Z. WHEN PULLING INTO THE PARKING AREA, THE R WINGTIP MADE CONTACT WITH A RAMP LAMP POLE. I DID NOTICE A BUMP, BUT THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A RIDGE IN THE CONCRETE. THE FO THEN ADVISED ME THAT WE HAD HIT A LAMP POST, WHICH WAS APPROX 5 FT INSIDE OF A BLAST WALL. WE RETURNED TO THE GATE, INSPECTED THE DAMAGE TO THE ACFT, WHICH CONSISTED OF A BROKEN WINGTIP LENS COVER, A BROKEN AFT R NAV BULB AND BROKEN STROBE LIGHT. THE TAXI SPD OF THE ACFT WAS VERY SLOW AT THE TIME OF CONTACT, THEREFORE, NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE OCCURRED NOR BODILY INJURY. I THEN CALLED MAINT CTL AND DISPATCH AND ADVISED THEM OF THE SIT.
