Narrative:
On localizer to ILS runway 36L at dfw. Before intercepting GS at 3000 ft, approximately 15 mi out, received an RA to climb on TCASII. We were in the clouds. Climbed approximately 600 ft until 'clear' of conflict was annunciated. TCASII showed traffic approximately 1-2 mi ahead at our altitude. After advising ATC, we returned to 3000 ft and overshot altitude, then resumed approach. Altitude was overshot in the confusion because altitude alert became unarmed. Supplemental information from acn 254216: ATC advised no traffic in that area at that time and I believe it was a false indication. However, being IMC, corrective action was taken.

Title: AN ACR MLG CLBED IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII COMMAND.
Narrative: ON LOC TO ILS RWY 36L AT DFW. BEFORE INTERCEPTING GS AT 3000 FT, APPROX 15 MI OUT, RECEIVED AN RA TO CLB ON TCASII. WE WERE IN THE CLOUDS. CLBED APPROX 600 FT UNTIL 'CLR' OF CONFLICT WAS ANNUNCIATED. TCASII SHOWED TFC APPROX 1-2 MI AHEAD AT OUR ALT. AFTER ADVISING ATC, WE RETURNED TO 3000 FT AND OVERSHOT ALT, THEN RESUMED APCH. ALT WAS OVERSHOT IN THE CONFUSION BECAUSE ALT ALERT BECAME UNARMED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FROM ACN 254216: ATC ADVISED NO TFC IN THAT AREA AT THAT TIME AND I BELIEVE IT WAS A FALSE INDICATION. HOWEVER, BEING IMC, CORRECTIVE ACTION WAS TAKEN.
