Narrative:
We were ready to taxi to runway 25 for a VFR departure. I called ground for a taxi clearance to runway 25 from the ramp area. We received no answer. I called again and received a 'standby.' I waited a while and called again. Ground responded with 'roger.' we accepted this as a clearance to taxi and we began taxiing towards runway 25. We got to runway 25 behind another aircraft. We then switched to tower frequency to advise them we were ready for a VFR departure. Tower came back and gave us instructions for a noise abatement departure and said something about not getting a taxi clearance. I did not have time to question ATC about this 'taxi clearance,' because we were now #1 for takeoff and I had not yet finished the checklists. For some reason, ATC would not respond to us immediately when we called for taxi clearance. The frequency was clear and there were very few calls from other airplanes. Ground control may have been very busy in the tower, but it was not obvious to us. We were also in a hurry and may have heard what we wanted to hear regarding the taxi clearance. I think, in the future, we need to slow down and verify any clearance that is not specific.

Title: AN IMPATIENT AIRCREW TAXIED WITHOUT A CLRNC.
Narrative: WE WERE READY TO TAXI TO RWY 25 FOR A VFR DEP. I CALLED GND FOR A TAXI CLRNC TO RWY 25 FROM THE RAMP AREA. WE RECEIVED NO ANSWER. I CALLED AGAIN AND RECEIVED A 'STANDBY.' I WAITED A WHILE AND CALLED AGAIN. GND RESPONDED WITH 'ROGER.' WE ACCEPTED THIS AS A CLRNC TO TAXI AND WE BEGAN TAXIING TOWARDS RWY 25. WE GOT TO RWY 25 BEHIND ANOTHER ACFT. WE THEN SWITCHED TO TWR FREQ TO ADVISE THEM WE WERE READY FOR A VFR DEP. TWR CAME BACK AND GAVE US INSTRUCTIONS FOR A NOISE ABATEMENT DEP AND SAID SOMETHING ABOUT NOT GETTING A TAXI CLRNC. I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO QUESTION ATC ABOUT THIS 'TAXI CLRNC,' BECAUSE WE WERE NOW #1 FOR TKOF AND I HAD NOT YET FINISHED THE CHKLISTS. FOR SOME REASON, ATC WOULD NOT RESPOND TO US IMMEDIATELY WHEN WE CALLED FOR TAXI CLRNC. THE FREQ WAS CLR AND THERE WERE VERY FEW CALLS FROM OTHER AIRPLANES. GND CTL MAY HAVE BEEN VERY BUSY IN THE TWR, BUT IT WAS NOT OBVIOUS TO US. WE WERE ALSO IN A HURRY AND MAY HAVE HEARD WHAT WE WANTED TO HEAR REGARDING THE TAXI CLRNC. I THINK, IN THE FUTURE, WE NEED TO SLOW DOWN AND VERIFY ANY CLRNC THAT IS NOT SPECIFIC.
