Narrative:
After being pushed back from gate, we started the #1 engine, then completed the after start check for single engine taxi. The tug moved back toward the gate and I got taxi clearance from ground. I was not on interphone, so I do not know what was said between the captain and the ground crew. I saw the aircraft move forward about 1 ft, then stop. I then saw the signal (safety) man come from under the aircraft nose to the left side. The headset man went to the front of the aircraft from under the nose. Although the captain is responsible for receiving the headset man and getting the wave off from the safety man, the signal (safety) man was not in proper position in view of the captain. Another contributing factor was the planned 20 min turnarounds and getting overloaded trying to keep schedule.
