Narrative:
This was an FAA check ride with the slc FSDO. We were in VMC conditions with myself, PF, under the hood north a simulated, single engine practice ILS. We were handed off from slc approach to ogden tower at approximately 8 DME, where we checked on with ogden tower. We were told to report wulfe (OM) 6.0 DME to ogden tower. We failed to do so, or I should say 'I' failed to as I was acting as a single pilot during the check ride and consequently we were never issued landing clearance. We landed without clearance and tower pointed this out to us. The controller was (or seemed to be) not upset, he merely wanted us to be aware of what we had done. We took back off runway 21 with no further incident. Cause of incident: high workload (a simulated single engine ILS single pilot) for me and the monitoring of my progress by the check airman. In my opinion it was a good learning experience for both of us and this was just training, well a check ride. It makes me appreciate the complexity of an emergency of this caliber.

Title: AN SMT LANDED WITHOUT CLRNC.
Narrative: THIS WAS AN FAA CHK RIDE WITH THE SLC FSDO. WE WERE IN VMC CONDITIONS WITH MYSELF, PF, UNDER THE HOOD N A SIMULATED, SINGLE ENG PRACTICE ILS. WE WERE HANDED OFF FROM SLC APCH TO OGDEN TWR AT APPROX 8 DME, WHERE WE CHKED ON WITH OGDEN TWR. WE WERE TOLD TO RPT WULFE (OM) 6.0 DME TO OGDEN TWR. WE FAILED TO DO SO, OR I SHOULD SAY 'I' FAILED TO AS I WAS ACTING AS A SINGLE PLT DURING THE CHK RIDE AND CONSEQUENTLY WE WERE NEVER ISSUED LNDG CLRNC. WE LANDED WITHOUT CLRNC AND TWR POINTED THIS OUT TO US. THE CTLR WAS (OR SEEMED TO BE) NOT UPSET, HE MERELY WANTED US TO BE AWARE OF WHAT WE HAD DONE. WE TOOK BACK OFF RWY 21 WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. CAUSE OF INCIDENT: HIGH WORKLOAD (A SIMULATED SINGLE ENG ILS SINGLE PLT) FOR ME AND THE MONITORING OF MY PROGRESS BY THE CHK AIRMAN. IN MY OPINION IT WAS A GOOD LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR BOTH OF US AND THIS WAS JUST TRAINING, WELL A CHK RIDE. IT MAKES ME APPRECIATE THE COMPLEXITY OF AN EMER OF THIS CALIBER.
