Narrative:
Myself (PNF) airlines flight. Sep/xx/94 departure AA10 am. I received taxi clearance to taxi runway 19R and hold short of runway 31. I repeated the clearance and quickly repeated the clearance to captain, who I am not sure understood my directions. I was calling pre-flight checklists while we set radio and navigation equipment as well as required items on the taxi out to the runway. We crossed the hold short line for runway 31 and the ground controller reaffirmed for us to hold short of runway 31. I looked up and a beechcraft baron rolled quickly by on his landing rollout. We did not taxi onto runway 31 however, we were past the hold line and the aircraft nose was close to the runway. No accident or incident was caused by our action. Called the (mke) ATC supervisor and was told that no conflict was caused and that no action would be taken. Under normal conditions, our radios and equipment are set prior to flight. However, maintenance brought the aircraft over late and our morning runup, and equipment had to be completed prior to flight. We had 2 additional checklists to complete and were running late for departure. In an effort to complete the checklists and maintain an on-time departure we focused ourselves inside the cockpit instead of maintaining outside attention, which caused the failure to hold short as instructed. We were distracted. The controller working us did an excellent job, and may have prevented something more serious from happening.

Title: POTENTIAL CONFLICT DURING RWY INCURSION.
Narrative: MYSELF (PNF) AIRLINES FLT. SEP/XX/94 DEP AA10 AM. I RECEIVED TAXI CLRNC TO TAXI RWY 19R AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 31. I REPEATED THE CLRNC AND QUICKLY REPEATED THE CLRNC TO CAPT, WHO I AM NOT SURE UNDERSTOOD MY DIRECTIONS. I WAS CALLING PRE-FLT CHKLISTS WHILE WE SET RADIO AND NAV EQUIP AS WELL AS REQUIRED ITEMS ON THE TAXI OUT TO THE RWY. WE CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 31 AND THE GND CTLR REAFFIRMED FOR US TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 31. I LOOKED UP AND A BEECHCRAFT BARON ROLLED QUICKLY BY ON HIS LNDG ROLLOUT. WE DID NOT TAXI ONTO RWY 31 HOWEVER, WE WERE PAST THE HOLD LINE AND THE ACFT NOSE WAS CLOSE TO THE RWY. NO ACCIDENT OR INCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY OUR ACTION. CALLED THE (MKE) ATC SUPVR AND WAS TOLD THAT NO CONFLICT WAS CAUSED AND THAT NO ACTION WOULD BE TAKEN. UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, OUR RADIOS AND EQUIP ARE SET PRIOR TO FLT. HOWEVER, MAINT BROUGHT THE ACFT OVER LATE AND OUR MORNING RUNUP, AND EQUIP HAD TO BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO FLT. WE HAD 2 ADDITIONAL CHKLISTS TO COMPLETE AND WERE RUNNING LATE FOR DEP. IN AN EFFORT TO COMPLETE THE CHKLISTS AND MAINTAIN AN ON-TIME DEP WE FOCUSED OURSELVES INSIDE THE COCKPIT INSTEAD OF MAINTAINING OUTSIDE ATTN, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE TO HOLD SHORT AS INSTRUCTED. WE WERE DISTRACTED. THE CTLR WORKING US DID AN EXCELLENT JOB, AND MAY HAVE PREVENTED SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS FROM HAPPENING.
