Narrative:
Small aircraft X, a C-172, damaged his aircraft in an area which was under construction and is a non-controled movement area. The construction area was notamed on the current ATIS which the pilot advised he had on initial contact. A letter to airport users was also issued advising the aircraft of the construction. The pilot even departed the airport earlier that day while the construction was in progress. However, the pilot still managed to taxi onto the area under construction and caused substantial damage to his aircraft. The appropriate FAA officials have been notified of this occurrence. I would suggest better field lighting for the airport as well as any areas under construction to help eliminate this problem.
