Narrative:
Descending into oak on madwin 3 arrival, to cross (locke?) fix at 11000 ft. Captain was flying, I was retrieving ATIS and calling company station in-range. ATIS said numerous txwys were closed so plan turnoff on high speed or expect delay at end for back taxi. Captain asked for clarification from me as to which taxiway we needed to make. I held up airport chart to show him the turnoff and short distance available (4500 ft). At this time altitude alert sounded as we were passing 10700 ft. Captain halted descent at 10500 ft and immediately climbed back to 11000 ft! Center approach said nothing -- we said nothing. Previous day we were flying 737-300 EFIS. This day we were flying 737-200 with SP77 'control wheel steering.' our airline has no 'standard' aircraft out of approximately 85 aircraft. Ps -- if any of this is confusing, please forgive me. I'm distracted with drug testing alcohol testing and labor/management relations. Extremely low pay. Us govt in general.
