Narrative:
Cleared to civet intersection. Shortly before reaching, clearance changed from 'civet 1' (landing west) to 'downe 4' (landing east). Captain is not very proficient (as in 'above standard') so he gets the box messed up. (Part of the problem was that if you select civet 1 on departure/arrival page you get civet, but not 'bindy' and 'baset.' so he was hand typing this in.) (you need to select 'any' transition and then go direct 'civet' on the legs page.) then they change us back to landing west, just intercept the runway 25R localizer (runway 25L was closed). I'm trying to keep up with all these clrncs, tuning raw data and warning captain he's flying through the localizer heading for tijuana, but he's up to his ears in the box. Somewhere in there (I don't know how, because the airplane was fooled into it), we missed an 8000 ft leveloff. ATC called us and said 'ok, descend now to 7000 ft,' etc, etc. Uneventful landing.

Title: FLC OF AN LGT OVERSHOT DSCNT ALT, MISSING A STAR XING RESTR.
Narrative: CLRED TO CIVET INTXN. SHORTLY BEFORE REACHING, CLRNC CHANGED FROM 'CIVET 1' (LNDG W) TO 'DOWNE 4' (LNDG E). CAPT IS NOT VERY PROFICIENT (AS IN 'ABOVE STANDARD') SO HE GETS THE BOX MESSED UP. (PART OF THE PROB WAS THAT IF YOU SELECT CIVET 1 ON DEP/ARR PAGE YOU GET CIVET, BUT NOT 'BINDY' AND 'BASET.' SO HE WAS HAND TYPING THIS IN.) (YOU NEED TO SELECT 'ANY' TRANSITION AND THEN GO DIRECT 'CIVET' ON THE LEGS PAGE.) THEN THEY CHANGE US BACK TO LNDG W, JUST INTERCEPT THE RWY 25R LOC (RWY 25L WAS CLOSED). I'M TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH ALL THESE CLRNCS, TUNING RAW DATA AND WARNING CAPT HE'S FLYING THROUGH THE LOC HDG FOR TIJUANA, BUT HE'S UP TO HIS EARS IN THE BOX. SOMEWHERE IN THERE (I DON'T KNOW HOW, BECAUSE THE AIRPLANE WAS FOOLED INTO IT), WE MISSED AN 8000 FT LEVELOFF. ATC CALLED US AND SAID 'OK, DSND NOW TO 7000 FT,' ETC, ETC. UNEVENTFUL LNDG.
