Narrative:
After takeoff the controller at greensboro apparently gave us a right hand turn (long way) to a heading of 220 degrees. Neither the copilot or myself heard the 'right turn,' so I started a left turn to 220 degrees. Shortly after that he asked if we were turning right and we said, 'no we are in a left turn to 220 degrees.' he immediately came back and said, 'turn right to 220 degrees.' we accomplished his directions, level at 6000 ft. Subsequently, he told us that a right hand turn for flts going to atlanta was a new procedure and in the future we could expect right hand turn outs.

Narrative: AFTER TKOF THE CTLR AT GREENSBORO APPARENTLY GAVE US A R HAND TURN (LONG WAY) TO A HDG OF 220 DEGS. NEITHER THE COPLT OR MYSELF HEARD THE 'R TURN,' SO I STARTED A L TURN TO 220 DEGS. SHORTLY AFTER THAT HE ASKED IF WE WERE TURNING R AND WE SAID, 'NO WE ARE IN A L TURN TO 220 DEGS.' HE IMMEDIATELY CAME BACK AND SAID, 'TURN R TO 220 DEGS.' WE ACCOMPLISHED HIS DIRECTIONS, LEVEL AT 6000 FT. SUBSEQUENTLY, HE TOLD US THAT A R HAND TURN FOR FLTS GOING TO ATLANTA WAS A NEW PROC AND IN THE FUTURE WE COULD EXPECT R HAND TURN OUTS.
