Narrative:

After takeoff the controller at greensboro apparently gave us a right hand turn (long way) to a heading of 220 degrees. Neither the copilot or myself heard the 'right turn,' so I started a left turn to 220 degrees. Shortly after that he asked if we were turning right and we said, 'no we are in a left turn to 220 degrees.' he immediately came back and said, 'turn right to 220 degrees.' we accomplished his directions, level at 6000 ft. Subsequently, he told us that a right hand turn for flts going to atlanta was a new procedure and in the future we could expect right hand turn outs.
