Narrative:
Approximately 150 NM northeast of tri we were cleared to descend from FL390 to FL250 on a heading of 280 degrees. When out of FL330 cleared direct psk VOR. Prior to reaching FL330 we were cleared direct psk. A few moments later, we were given instructions to cross 10 northeast psk at FL260. We made the crossing and then descended to FL250. Reaching psk, we were handed off from ZDC to ZTL. ZTL's first statement was maintain FL260. We told them we were at FL250 but happy to climb to FL260 if that's what they needed. He asked who cleared us to FL250 and said we were to cross psk at FL260. We explained the clearance we received was the crossing restr of 10 northeast of psk at FL260 with no amendment to our other descent clearance. He gave us a heading change and descent to FL240. No other mention of the incident was made.
