Narrative:
The flight took place from ind and the destination was 3SM. I received a WX briefing 30 min prior to takeoff. The temperature at ind was 31 degrees F but the briefer stated there was a temperature inversion and no notices for icing. The tops were reported at 2500 - 3000 ft. I decided to attempt the flight knowing that the ceilings were 900 ft with good visibility and the tops were at 2500 - 3000 ft. On the climb there was no ice build-up. We were on top at 3000 ft. We were given the approach (VOR-a) and told to descend to 2500 ft. This put us in the clouds. As I descended I noticed we picked up some rime ice. Once we landed I removed the ice and decided to discontinue the flight and return to ind. The temperature at 3000 ft was 33 degree F and we had water on the wings and strut above 2500 ft. I made a poor judgement to return to ind but felt pressured to at least return to home base. I know we would be able to climb above the clouds it was clear about 3000 ft and the temperature was above freezing at around 2500 ft. The briefer had reported the freezing level at 8000 ft.

Narrative: THE FLT TOOK PLACE FROM IND AND THE DEST WAS 3SM. I RECEIVED A WX BRIEFING 30 MIN PRIOR TO TKOF. THE TEMP AT IND WAS 31 DEGS F BUT THE BRIEFER STATED THERE WAS A TEMP INVERSION AND NO NOTICES FOR ICING. THE TOPS WERE RPTED AT 2500 - 3000 FT. I MADE A POOR JUDGEMENT TO RETURN TO IND BUT FELT PRESSURED TO AT LEAST RETURN TO HOME BASE. I KNOW WE WOULD BE ABLE TO CLB ABOVE THE CLOUDS IT WAS CLR ABOUT 3000 FT AND THE TEMP WAS ABOVE FREEZING AT AROUND 2500 FT. THE BRIEFER HAD RPTED THE FREEZING LEVEL AT 8000 FT.
