Narrative:
On gear retraction at dfw heard a loud thump in nose gear area under cockpit. Nose gear caution light came on with MFDU message, restricting aircraft to 200 KT and to recycle gear. Gear extension was normal. On retraction same problem appeared. Lowered landing gear and returned to dfw. Landing weight was 80000 pounds.

Title: ACFT EQUIP PROB WITH NOSE GEAR RETRACTION CAUSES ACR TO RETURN LAND.
Narrative: ON GEAR RETRACTION AT DFW HEARD A LOUD THUMP IN NOSE GEAR AREA UNDER COCKPIT. NOSE GEAR CAUTION LIGHT CAME ON WITH MFDU MESSAGE, RESTRICTING ACFT TO 200 KT AND TO RECYCLE GEAR.
