Narrative:
Flight was a primary training flight out of denver centennial airport. Flight was in the apa practice area southeast of the airport. Working our way northward during various maneuvers, we entered denver's class B airspace at approximately den R-145 at 20 NM DME at 8300 ft MSL. Shortly thereafter recognized position from ground reference and turned south leaving the class B, probable incursion was only a couple of mi. Ioc VOR recently decommissioned had been very useful for navigating in this area in aircraft without DME, as was the case here. Looking forward to the new VOR at limex intersection. Pilot will renew efforts at position awareness.
