Narrative:

Flight from lex to bna. Flight was 2 mins late departing the gate at lex. The ATIS at lex informed the crew runway 4 was favorable to ATC. After calculating takeoff weights and performing checklist, the crew, despite lex ATIS, needed runway 22 for performance reasons due to weight. After starting the taxi and turnout of the gate, flight contacted lex ground. Lex ground responded taxi to departing runway or active runway which would be runway 4. The confusion was the crew requested runway 22. Once at the approach end of runway 22 the control tower said we needed to be at runway 4. The same person was working both ground and tower. The flight departed runway 22. There was not a conflict of any kind.
