Narrative:
Approach controller cleared us to cross 10 mi south of lga VOR at 2500 ft. We read back 2500 ft and complied with company altitude awareness procedures. At 2500 ft the controller told us that we had been cleared to 3500 ft. He then cleared us back to 3000 ft.

Narrative: APCH CTLR CLRED US TO CROSS 10 MI S OF LGA VOR AT 2500 FT. WE READ BACK 2500 FT AND COMPLIED WITH COMPANY ALT AWARENESS PROCS. AT 2500 FT THE CTLR TOLD US THAT WE HAD BEEN CLRED TO 3500 FT. HE THEN CLRED US BACK TO 3000 FT.
