Narrative:
We departed syr as a commercial flight to ewr. Near sax VOR we were descending and ny approach cleared the flight to teb at the same time we were advised of the traffic at our 8 O'clock position. We saw the converging traffic and took evasive action by turning right (away from the traffic) and increased our rate of descent. We were VFR and clear of clouds.
