Narrative:
I departed hwd with 4 passenger bound for sba. I was in contact with the hwd tower controller at the time of the incident. I was climbing through 2000 ft on the oak 114 degree radial approximately 9 NM from the VOR when the controller called to remind me to 'maintain at or below 1500 ft for 1 additional mi for oak class C airspace.' I descended to 1500 ft for an additional 2 mi before resuming climb. I was using a current sfo terminal chart at the time. The contributing factor is that the chart depicts the sfo class B and oak class C airspace with the (blue) sfo airspace lines superseding the (magenta) oak lines. At the time of the incursion, I was concentrating on avoiding the sfo airspace and failed to notice that the oak airspace was of approximately the same lateral dimensions below the sfo airspace. Unfortunately, this is a very busy chart, I am not sure what to do to prevent a recurrence (possibly a note in the border?). I will, of course, attempt to be more alert in the future.

Title: UNAUTH PENETRATION OF AIRSPACE CLASS C.
Narrative: I DEPARTED HWD WITH 4 PAX BOUND FOR SBA. I WAS IN CONTACT WITH THE HWD TWR CTLR AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. I WAS CLBING THROUGH 2000 FT ON THE OAK 114 DEG RADIAL APPROX 9 NM FROM THE VOR WHEN THE CTLR CALLED TO REMIND ME TO 'MAINTAIN AT OR BELOW 1500 FT FOR 1 ADDITIONAL MI FOR OAK CLASS C AIRSPACE.' I DSNDED TO 1500 FT FOR AN ADDITIONAL 2 MI BEFORE RESUMING CLB. AT THE TIME OF THE INCURSION, I WAS CONCENTRATING ON AVOIDING THE SFO AIRSPACE AND FAILED TO NOTICE THAT THE OAK AIRSPACE WAS OF APPROX THE SAME LATERAL DIMENSIONS BELOW THE SFO AIRSPACE. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS IS A VERY BUSY CHART, I AM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO TO PREVENT A RECURRENCE (POSSIBLY A NOTE IN THE BORDER?). I WILL, OF COURSE, ATTEMPT TO BE MORE ALERT IN THE FUTURE.
