Narrative:

Inadvertent cabin door opening. Landed at nearest airport to prevent damage to door. Landed on 3000 ft grass strip. Poor judgement. In aircraft manual it says that the doors will not open in flight. Although aircraft performance allowed a safe landing, continuing to a longer hard surfaced runway would have been a better choice.

Title: AIR TAXI CARGO ACFT HAS DOOR COME OPEN INFLT.

Narrative: INADVERTENT CABIN DOOR OPENING. LANDED AT NEAREST ARPT TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO DOOR. LANDED ON 3000 FT GRASS STRIP. POOR JUDGEMENT. IN ACFT MANUAL IT SAYS THAT THE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN IN FLT. ALTHOUGH ACFT PERFORMANCE ALLOWED A SAFE LNDG, CONTINUING TO A LONGER HARD SURFACED RWY WOULD HAVE BEEN A BETTER CHOICE.
