Narrative:
A lightning strike was experienced during let-down into albany, ny, while leveling at 11000 ft, 250 KTS. Conditions were moderate chop, light-to-moderate precipitation, true air temperature of plus 2 degrees C. A double rudder channel fault resulted in loss of normal stabilizer trim, yaw damper, and autoplt. The stabilizer trim wheel was adjusted manually to trim the stabilizer hydraulically. Runway 19 at albany had winds of 190 degrees at 17 KTS, meeting crosswind restr of maximum of 10 KTS for manual rudder condition. No emergency was declared with ATC. Operations at albany was advised of the lightning strike and need of maintenance inspection. Landed normally out of an ILS approach to runway 19 at albany. Postflt all faults were cleared. However, inspection revealed a triangular section of 1 inch dimension missing from the outboard trailing edge corner of the left horizontal stabilizer and bulging of the left horizontal stabilizer tip fairing. After conclusion of maintenance inspection, aircraft continued service under engineering authority/authorized.

Title: FLC OF AN MLG RECEIVES A LIGHTNING STRIKE CAUSING LOSS OF THE NORMAL STABILIZER TRIM, YAW DAMPER, AND AUTOPLT SYS.
Narrative: A LIGHTNING STRIKE WAS EXPERIENCED DURING LET-DOWN INTO ALBANY, NY, WHILE LEVELING AT 11000 FT, 250 KTS. CONDITIONS WERE MODERATE CHOP, LIGHT-TO-MODERATE PRECIPITATION, TRUE AIR TEMP OF PLUS 2 DEGS C. A DOUBLE RUDDER CHANNEL FAULT RESULTED IN LOSS OF NORMAL STABILIZER TRIM, YAW DAMPER, AND AUTOPLT. THE STABILIZER TRIM WHEEL WAS ADJUSTED MANUALLY TO TRIM THE STABILIZER HYDRAULICALLY. RWY 19 AT ALBANY HAD WINDS OF 190 DEGS AT 17 KTS, MEETING XWIND RESTR OF MAX OF 10 KTS FOR MANUAL RUDDER CONDITION. NO EMER WAS DECLARED WITH ATC. OPS AT ALBANY WAS ADVISED OF THE LIGHTNING STRIKE AND NEED OF MAINT INSPECTION. LANDED NORMALLY OUT OF AN ILS APCH TO RWY 19 AT ALBANY. POSTFLT ALL FAULTS WERE CLRED. HOWEVER, INSPECTION REVEALED A TRIANGULAR SECTION OF 1 INCH DIMENSION MISSING FROM THE OUTBOARD TRAILING EDGE CORNER OF THE L HORIZ STABILIZER AND BULGING OF THE L HORIZ STABILIZER TIP FAIRING. AFTER CONCLUSION OF MAINT INSPECTION, ACFT CONTINUED SVC UNDER ENGINEERING AUTH.
