Narrative:
Level at 7000 ft on vectors -- got a 'TA,' then a 'RA' to not descend. Visually saw the DC9 passing directly under us going from our 11 O'clock to 4 O'clock position. ATC (approach) advised us of aircraft just as it passed under us. First officer was flying and climbed 200 ft to 7200 ft. Even with the extra 200 ft the 'RA' continued until the DC9 had passed us.
