Narrative:
I was trying to get home from dwv to Y47. I left beckly, wv, and headed west to avoid WX and get fuel at ashland (boyd county). I made numerous calls to flight service. I was told at approximately XX10 local that I had a 1/2 hour window to make a VFR trip to avoid WX. About 20 mi after takeoff the clouds began to appear thicker and lower. Suddenly I had zero visibility. I tried to turn around but could not get clear of clouds. I was talking to ZID and ask for vectors to the nearest airport. At that point I could have returned to dwv or continued to another airport north. I have very little IFR and thought storms could be now nearing dwv, I continued north where it eventually cleared. It might have been less time but I think I was IFR (zero visibility) for about 1/2 hour. ZID was comforting and helpful, but my WX forecast was inadequate.

I HAVE VERY LITTLE IFR AND THOUGHT STORMS COULD BE NOW NEARING DWV, I CONTINUED N WHERE IT EVENTUALLY CLRED. IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN LESS TIME BUT I THINK I WAS IFR (ZERO VISIBILITY) FOR ABOUT 1/2 HR. ZID WAS COMFORTING AND HELPFUL, BUT MY WX FORECAST WAS INADEQUATE.
