Narrative:
Approaching waypoint bvi, boa vista, brazil, manaus center. We noticed on TCASII an aircraft 20 mi out at our 10 O'clock position, same altitude, FL350. In a few mins the aircraft was at our 12 O'clock position and 18 mi. I questioned manaus center about this other aircraft but he never gave us an answer, instead he gave us 3 frequencys to contact maiquetia center. In maiquetia center I discovered that the other aircraft was flight xyz buenos aires to new york on UA300. We were on UL304, UL304 rio to miami. I discussed this with the other captain and he said they reported over bvi at XA12Z. We reported over bvi at XA14Z, same altitude, FL350. This seems too close to me -- 2 mins apart.
