Narrative:
ZJX controller (133.62) gave light transport X, LR35, a climb from FL330 to FL350. We responded climb to FL350 and initiated climb. ZJX controller then said next controller would give us higher and sent us over to 135.05. Our initial call was blocked. ZJX (135.05) said 2 aircraft called at same time. ZJX then asked light transport X, what is your assigned altitude. We said FL350. ZJX said, negative, assigned altitude is FL330, descend immediately to FL330 traffic at 10-11 O'clock position, 1 mi at FL350. We descended rapidly to FL330 and told controller traffic in sight. We were advised to contact ZJX via telephone number (xxxxxxx) which is a disconnected phone number. We never heard a retraction of our clearance to climb to FL350 or did we acknowledge stop climb at FL330. The controller on 133.62 was very busy. We were climbing less than a min when he handed us off. We should never have been issued a climb with another aircraft in so close proximity. As soon as we started our climb the controller had a deal.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A CORP LR35 FLC TOOK A TA AS A CLRNC TO CLB TO A HIGHER ALT JUST PRIOR TO A FREQ CHANGE. THE NEXT CTLR CONFIRMED THE LR35 ALT AND TOLD THEM TO DSND BACK TO FL330 DUE TO AN ACR B737 IN CLOSE PROX AT FL350. LR35 FLC WAS TOLD TO CALL THE ARTCC VIA A TELEPHONE NUMBER WHICH THE RPTRS CLAIM WAS A DISCONNECTED NUMBER. FO ON THE LR35 IS A VERY LOW TIME PLT WITH LOW TIME LAST 90 DAYS AND IN ACFT TYPE.
Narrative: ZJX CTLR (133.62) GAVE LTT X, LR35, A CLB FROM FL330 TO FL350. WE RESPONDED CLB TO FL350 AND INITIATED CLB. ZJX CTLR THEN SAID NEXT CTLR WOULD GIVE US HIGHER AND SENT US OVER TO 135.05. OUR INITIAL CALL WAS BLOCKED. ZJX (135.05) SAID 2 ACFT CALLED AT SAME TIME. ZJX THEN ASKED LTT X, WHAT IS YOUR ASSIGNED ALT. WE SAID FL350. ZJX SAID, NEGATIVE, ASSIGNED ALT IS FL330, DSND IMMEDIATELY TO FL330 TFC AT 10-11 O'CLOCK POS, 1 MI AT FL350. WE DSNDED RAPIDLY TO FL330 AND TOLD CTLR TFC IN SIGHT. WE WERE ADVISED TO CONTACT ZJX VIA TELEPHONE NUMBER (XXXXXXX) WHICH IS A DISCONNECTED PHONE NUMBER. WE NEVER HEARD A RETRACTION OF OUR CLRNC TO CLB TO FL350 OR DID WE ACKNOWLEDGE STOP CLB AT FL330. THE CTLR ON 133.62 WAS VERY BUSY. WE WERE CLBING LESS THAN A MIN WHEN HE HANDED US OFF. WE SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ISSUED A CLB WITH ANOTHER ACFT IN SO CLOSE PROX. AS SOON AS WE STARTED OUR CLB THE CTLR HAD A DEAL.
