Narrative:
ATC facility: elp ground. Location: ramp. After push out from gate at elp, ground control instructed us to taxi east out of ramp to runway 8R. We started the eastbound taxi and noticed an air carrier jet being towed out on the ramp area toward taxiway G. Instead of interfering with that operation, we made a left turn and taxied to taxiway F. Ground control then said we shouldn't be on taxiway F and asked us if we could powerback. When we answered negative he had us contact tower and then the tower cleared us for takeoff. Upon further review of the airport pages, we realized that taxiway F is a one way sbound and we were attempting to taxi northbound. The situation could have been avoided if the ground controller would have stated taxi to runway 8R, hold short of approach end of runway 8R adjacent to taxiway G.

Title: ACR LGT PIC DOES NOT FOLLOW TAXI RTE AS GIVEN BY GND CTLR IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET AROUND ACR Y BEING TOWED BY ACR MAINT PERSONNEL. USES TXWY THAT WOULD CROSS EXTENDED AREA AT APCH END OF ACTIVE RWY.
Narrative: ATC FACILITY: ELP GND. LOCATION: RAMP. AFTER PUSH OUT FROM GATE AT ELP, GND CTL INSTRUCTED US TO TAXI E OUT OF RAMP TO RWY 8R. WE STARTED THE EBOUND TAXI AND NOTICED AN ACR JET BEING TOWED OUT ON THE RAMP AREA TOWARD TXWY G. INSTEAD OF INTERFERING WITH THAT OP, WE MADE A L TURN AND TAXIED TO TXWY F. GND CTL THEN SAID WE SHOULDN'T BE ON TXWY F AND ASKED US IF WE COULD POWERBACK. WHEN WE ANSWERED NEGATIVE HE HAD US CONTACT TWR AND THEN THE TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF. UPON FURTHER REVIEW OF THE ARPT PAGES, WE REALIZED THAT TXWY F IS A ONE WAY SBOUND AND WE WERE ATTEMPTING TO TAXI NBOUND. THE SIT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF THE GND CTLR WOULD HAVE STATED TAXI TO RWY 8R, HOLD SHORT OF APCH END OF RWY 8R ADJACENT TO TXWY G.
