Narrative:
I was VFR en route to denver from ege. The en route WX was deteriorating so we climbed to stay well above mountains. I had ground contact the entire time but not much forward visibility. When I realized that I was at the altitude of the departure course from den to dbl, I hit the xfer button to listen to den approach, then I heard the controller telling some aircraft that there was an aircraft flying VFR in IMC conditions. So I figured that he was talking about me, so I started an immediate descent to a lower altitude. After listening to ATIS I contacted approach with nothing else happening. After landing I was given ZDV phone number. I called and was informed that there was an near midair collision and the other aircraft had to take evasive action to avoid me. The controller told me that he started pointing me at 8 mi and finally at 1 the other aircraft told him there was no way I was VFR because he could not see me. I said well I did not see him but I had all my lights on. The controller said he got within 1/2 mi.
