Narrative:
I was climbing off oxc and first officer had put 4000 ft in the alerter but we were only cleared to 3000 ft. At 3200 ft we were told to maintain 3000 ft and did a quick leveloff at 3300 ft and then back down to 3000 ft.

Title: FLC OF A LEAR 35 OVERSHOT THE INITIAL DEP ALT DUE TO RECORDING THE WRONG ALT IN THE ALT ALERTER.
Narrative: I WAS CLBING OFF OXC AND FO HAD PUT 4000 FT IN THE ALERTER BUT WE WERE ONLY CLRED TO 3000 FT. AT 3200 FT WE WERE TOLD TO MAINTAIN 3000 FT AND DID A QUICK LEVELOFF AT 3300 FT AND THEN BACK DOWN TO 3000 FT.
