Narrative:
My C172 and my student departed Y14 airport located at 10 NM southwest of fsd. We contacted tower on 118.3 and reported position and altitude. Tower replied, squawk YYYY and went along with request to land straight in to runway 3. They did not clear us to land. Then tower reported traffic 'right on top of us B727.' I replied, 'where is the traffic?' no reply. I then turned to a heading of 090 degrees to get out of the way of traffic. While turning, noted a B727 descending on top of us. The B727 TCASII alerted them and they executed a missed approach. I later landed runway 33 and they circled back for runway 3. Following turn to 030 degree heading after initial tower response, I had trouble getting clearance to land runway 33. The tower was switching controllers or in the middle of a coffee break.
